Do you remember those days when we were young and our parents would watch that typical family drama show on television every evening? Well, family dramas have dominated for many years on television but time has changed and family dramas have taken a backseat these days as more and more reality shows are gaining popularity all over the world. Today, you will find that in all the countries reality shows are making their mark because people would prefer to watch real situations and real action rather than watching the same kind of scripted shows that has nothing fresh to offer.

Though, in recent times it was only after a reality show Big Brother that all TV producers and creative writers started focusing on reality shows because they had a huge fan following and audience who would wrap up all their household and office work and stick to their seats to watch their favorite characters performing some live and real action rather than enacting like a puppet. However, reality shows are not a recent phenomenon because reality shows have been on television since 1948. Of course, you might not believe this but Candid Camera was one of the first reality television show that broadcasted ordinary people reacting to pranks that were played by the people associated with the show. You can find the same concept in reality shows like Scare Tactics and Room 401 which are being aired today on television.

Though, reality tv shows have always been on television, but it received a phenomenal success in the 21st century when a lot of reality shows flooded the TV channels. Among some of the best TV reality shows that got a huge response from the masses all over the world were Survivor and American Idol. These reality shows became an instant hit because people were allowed to participate in these shows and which means that there was no script and therefore people were curious to know how a person would react when put under a certain challenging circumstances. On the other hand, American Idol was open to all American citizens that had a good voice and singing talent to become one of the top singers of the country. People started realizing that reality shows were not only entertaining but also an easy way to see them on television and if lucky they can win some good cash prizes that would change their lives forever.

The popularity of reality shows led to the rise of two new channels that were known as Fox Reality and Zone Reality. Many other cable channels came up with their own reality channels like MTV and Bravo. The rising trend of reality shows on TV forced creative writers and TV directors to come out with a different kind of reality show that would attract a large audience and zoom up their TRP ratings and therefore many other subgenres of reality shows came into existence. Reality shows soon split up into number of categories like Special Living Environment, Celebrities Reality Show, Professional Reality Show, Talent Reality Show, Job Search Reality Show, Sports Reality Show, Self Improvement Reality Show, Renovation Reality Show, Social Experiment Reality Show, Dating Reality Show, Paranormal Reality Show, and regular Talk Shows. With so many types of reality shows already flooding the TV channels it became impossible for anybody to escape the growing list of reality shows.

High definition television are becoming more and more popular, many people are getting a HDTV because they believe that this is turning out to be the next standard in television sets, there is no wonder to this belief since the transmission quality is definitely superior to anything that came before it. The most common thing you can hear is that someone that just got a HDTV set says that he would not have believed how fast he would get used to this phenomenal quality.

In fact, most of the HDTV users say they don’t understand how they watched television “the old way”, and that they can not stand to watch a regular television because of its poor quality, this is even worst for sport addicts who confess that HDTV is almost a necessity for those football games.

It is not surprising then that this is not only an American trend, this HDTV madness is on a global scale, and like any other market rules this suggests that high definition will indeed become a very accessible purchase in a few year, the demand is predicted to grow in the next few years and as more television stations start transmitting in high definition more users are expected to join the market.

The companies that make the high definition television sets say that this started as a slow and gradual excitement, much of it because many people got used to the standard television broadcast, and no one thought that there will be any advancement on the level of transmission quality, most people had thought of the DVD markets and the digital signal gadgets but not about improving the actual result that you see on screen.

The result is that slowly, but surly, many are giving the high definition television a chance and once they watch it, they are hooked, and there are high chances that they will ultimately go for the high definition.

One product that has been linked most of all to the high definition transmission quality is the plasma screen, most users say that one simply can not exists without the other, that the plasma executes what the high definition enables, and while this may be very true the costs of both are still very high and not everyone can afford to purchase a plasma television set, but experts say that like all other things, this too will change in the next few years as the standards in the television market change completely, in other words they say that most people will be surprised at how quickly they will be sitting in front of their own plasma screen at home.

Anyone looking to get a high definition television set, or a plasma screen , is strongly advised to research this market before he buys anything, this market is known for its prices fluctuations and rapid changes, so make sure you buy a good product and that you are properly covered for maintenance and guarantee. Once you decide make sure you know how to install everything properly and take good care of your electronic equipment so you can use it and enjoy it for many years.

Those yellow, animated phenomenons have finally made their way to the big screen and it only took eighteen years. So does the animated movie live up to the hilarity of the television show? Read on and find out ? doh!
The town of Springfield’s lake is overly polluted and socially conscious Lisa Simpson (Yeardley Smith) rallies the town to clean it up. Her dad Homer (Dan Castellaneta) saves a pig from being slaughtered after it’s used as a prop in a Krusty the Clown commercial and starts to treat it like the son he always wanted.

This doesn’t set well with Bart (Nancy Cartwright) who finds that Mr. Flanders (Harry Shearer) is a more caring father than his pig loving one. Homer’s new oinking child does what pig’s do and Homer puts the results in a huge silo in the backyard (well, Homer did put a little of himself into the job). His wife Marge (Julie Kavner) tells him to get rid of the silo of pig waste.

Homer does of course, by dumping it on Lake Springfield. This infusion of pollution causes the Environmental Protection Agency to become alerted to the situation. They react in their usual restrained manner ? the director Russ Cargill (Albert Brooks) orders that a huge glass dome cover the town.
The Simpsons eventually find themselves outside the dome and Homer decides to take off rather than help his neighbors (especially since they formed an angry mob against him when they found out that it was his silo that pushed the lake over the limit). He takes the family to Alaska and start over again, but the rest of the family thinks they should return and save Springfield.

The Simpsons have been a television hit since they started airing in 1989. There’s always been talk that creator Matt Groening should bring his jaundiced creations to the big screen. He’s seemingly been happy on the small screen but it has finally come to pass and the results are hilarious.
The film does play like a bigger and extended episode of the television show. It has some hilarious commentary on society as well as just outright wacky comedy. One bit of commentary has the church folk running to Moe’s bar and the bar patrons running to church as the giant dome of doom is placed over the town.

We also have an extended Bart dare as he skateboards in the buff down to the Krusty Burger. Not to mention the “Spider Pig” song that my kids would sing during the theatrical trailer.

Where this disc lets down a little is not in the content of the film but in the special feature department. It feels really rather light and you keep thinking that a more expansive special edition will be in the works somewhere down the line ? doh!.

The Simpsons is presented in anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1) and is enhanced for 16×9 televisions. A fullscreen version is available separately. Special features include two commentary tracks.

The first one features writer/creator Matt Groening, writer/producer James L. Brooks, writer/producer Al Jean, writer/producer Mike Scully, director David Silverman, Yeardley Smith, and Dan Castellaneta, and the second one includes director Silverman, and sequence directors Mike B. Anderson, Steven Dean Moore and Rich Moore.

There are 5 minutes of deleted scenes introduced by Al Jean. The “Special Stuff” section has 3 minutes of Simpsons appearances on the Tonight Show, American Idol, and a parody of the “Let’s go to the Lobby” concession stand spiel. That’s it. Seems pretty light to me.

The movie is hilarious, but the extra features feel like a bit of a letdown as far as deleted scenes go, the commentaries are top notch. It’s well worth it for the film. I must knock it down a bit because it could’ve been a bigger set (and I suspect will be somewhere down the line).

TVLand and Nick-at-Night are not the only places we find classic television shows. They are cropping up more and more places. Classic TV collectibles are popular items on auction sites such as Ebay. Enter “Classic television show collectibles” into your Google-powered search engine and you will find around 170,000 possibilities.

Run through a few of those results and you will find everything from classic television DVDs, lunch boxes, costumes, watches, salt and pepper shakers, vintage posters, and dolls. A quick search on Amazon.com found “The Best of Donny and Marie (DVD) Volume 1 (1976).” There are websites and online stores whose sole purpose is to sell classic television paraphernalia. These sites are capitalizing on the baby boomer’s affinity for nostalgia. Collectors are scooping up the vintage collectibles.

There are companies who are bringing back the collectibles by manufacturing “New Vintage” collectibles. New metal lunch boxes with Donny and Marie, Superman, The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, and even the Dukes of Hazzard are popping up all over the place. With true vintage lunch boxes going for hundreds of dollars, these “replacements”, although lacking authenticity, are an affordable option for those who just want to revisit the good old days of classic television.

The release of classic TV DVDs has made it possible for people to sit back and enjoy hours of their favorite shows from yesterday. The appeal of these shows for many is the “down-home” nature of the comedy. They don’t rely on profanity, off-color remarks, or blatant sexual angles for their humor. They remind us of a simpler time. Donny and Marie, Sonny and Cher, The Partridge Family, The Walton’s, The Brady Bunch, and many more shows take us back to a time when it was okay to say things like “Gosh” and “Golly.” It was more than okay to love your family and country. It was expected. It was safe to turn on the television with the family and enjoy a nice show together.

The collectibles associated with these shows are gaining in popularity. As many from those generations begin to find more time for hobbies and have a little extra disposable income, the collectibles are becoming more desirable. Donny and Marie dolls, which were released in August 1976 with an accompanying “TV Studio”, are popular finds. Sonny and Cher costumes are popular at costume parties. The Partridge Family memorabilia is making a strong comeback, as well.

Some of these classic television shows are enjoying a rebirth due to remakes of the originals. The Brady Bunch surged forward after a new generation was exposed to a less-than authentic version of the show in the 1995 version. Even with the tongue-in-cheek style of this movie, many people began seeking authentic Brady Bunch memorabilia and collectibles. The market for these items soared. The same held true for the Scooby Doo collectibles after the 2002 release of the movie. This one was so popular a sequel was made. This remake has brought about a whole new market for Scooby Doo collectibles, new and old alike. After the movie was released classic Scooby Doo DVDs were flying off the shelves. With the popularity of these classic television remakes it is not unrealistic to expect many more to follow.

As with any commodity, as the demand increases, the price will rise. Many collectors search for pieces to round out their collection for a more intrinsic value, rather than simply price. A collection of classic television show collectibles may be worth a substantial amount of money, but it is the nostalgia that holds the true value. You can’t put a price on the memories those collectibles will elicit, or the feelings locked deep inside that are released when you hold that Donny and Marie lunchbox just like the one you had as a kid.

To find that special classic TV DVD or other collectible it may be as simple as hitting search on your search engine. Whether it is a find at a garage sale or a purchase off the web, it is the joy of releasing that inner child and finding that peace that simple joys bring that makes classic television collectibles true treasures.
