All of these projects were built using standards-compliant html, css and php. Please note that I began teaching myself web-development five years ago and each day, I try to learn new ways to do my job better. Comments are welcome either through posts or by using this contact page.

1. Nonprofit

United Way of Metro Chicago (main site) - 2007

The site was developed/rewritten as an overhaul of a 2002 Coldfusion 3.0 website. The new site consists of more than 80 pages and has a simpler, intuitive interface that focuses on educating new donors about United Way, its issue areas, and its initiatives. There is significant multimedia use on individual pages, as well as a media repository for Campaign Leaders. This project was a major undertaking—not just in the design, but in the programming and aligning all the various marketing elements. Prelim sketches to launch was almost four months.

News & Events - United Way - 2007

This is an addendum to the above site. There was little capability to add prescient content to the United Way website, so I developed a powerful content management system (CMS) utilizing Wordpress. Out of the box, this CMS allows for easy updates to past, present and future events, but with significant tweaking, News & Events is now a complete and great looking archive for all United Way happenings. It is integrated with automatic Flickr uploads, event registration, commenting and moderation, etc. I’ve also written 60+ articles for this site.

Suburban United Ways (x9) - Chicago, Illinois - 2007
Suburban United Ways (x9) - 2007

Two months after the completion of the new United Way websites, I redeveloped new websites for the nine suburban United Way locations, using the same CMS (Wordpress) as the News & Events site. This allowed for the decentralization of their respective marketing and content management. The sites are simple, but good looking and provide markedly increased functionality for both the authors and the end-users.

Big Brothers Big Sisters
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Chicago - 2006

This was my first complete website redesign. Without very much to build upon, I created this website for Big Brothers Big Sisters while working as their Office Assistant. I literally learned html as I went. I completed 90% of this site within a two week period.
